An intense program for individuals wanting to learn the basics of machining. Trainees learn the set up and operation of conventional machining equipment such as mills, lathes, grinders, drill presses, and saws. Instruction is also provided in safety, quality control and inspection procedures, shop theory, precision measuring instruments, mathematics, blueprint reading, and basic CNC operation.

Instruction time is divided equally between classroom, computer lab, and shop, providing a unique blend of practical theory and hands-on experience. Upon graduation, the Machinist Trainee may find entry-level employment within the machining and tooling industry.

All instructors are credentialed or are working toward a credential in Adult Vocational Education. The instructors bring to the classroom and shop many years of practical experience in the machining, tooling and manufacturing industry. Their extensive capabilities and varied backgrounds assure students of receiving the highest caliber instruction possible from the most qualified instructors.

Graduates tell their experiences at the NTMA Training Centers:

I started NTMA Training about half a year ago. Before I came to this school I was self-employed. I had, had past experience as a conventional machinist, but was never really taught how to be one. That is what I enjoyed most about coming to this school, the hands on training. The instructors would help out as much as they could to make sure that you understood what you were doing. I hope to attain my own goals, like owning my own business. -Adam West

I am a graduate from NTMA. Before coming here I was working in an agency unloading and loading packages. . I needed to find a career for myself. I came across NTMA training center one day. I really liked the school, what I liked most about it was that you would make these projects and you really knew how to make them. I want to let all the future students know that this is a great career. Hopefully, one day I will own my own shop and be able to design cars. -Fidel Meza
